Gatesnotes Infographic, CHINA

This info-graphic illustrates an amazing statistic in a book about materials called Making the Modern World reviewed by Bills Gates on the Gates Notes.

To quote from Bill Gate's review, in the book the author, Vaclav Smil, "introduces a surprising and counterintuitive idea he calls relative dematerialization. As innovation lets us make a given product more efficiently, with fewer materials or energy, prices go down and consumption goes up."

This shocking statistic shows that in the last 3 years China has used more concrete than the US has used in the last 100 years and illustrates that point.
